If you are looking to replace your van in 2018, it’s worth knowing which light commercial vehicles – or LCVs, as they are known – were the most popular last year. In this article, we take a look at 2017’s star buys.
Ford Transit Custom
With more than 51,000 sold last year, the Ford Transit Custom ticks all those transport boxes, including excellent payload capacity and a sturdy engine.
Ford Transit
Coming in at number two is the Ford Transit, offering a superb driving experience thanks to its 2.0-litre EcoBlue engine and six-speed gearbox. It’s worth mentioning here that emission regulation standards, designed to reduce nitrogen dioxide, are applicable to vans, and if they don’t meet the stringent Euro 6 emissions criteria, they can be either charged a daily fee or in some cases be banned from entering some urban areas.
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
2018 looks set to be another good year for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter thanks to its fabulous quality, unrivaled reputation, and excellent reliability.
Volkswagen Transporter
High up there in street-cred terms, the VW Transporter is both economical and spacious and came in at number four of best vans for 2017.
Ford Transit Connect
Offering excellent value for money, the Ford Transit Connect handles well and has a spacious inviting cab for any driver.
Vauxhall Vivaro
Not only does the Vauxhall Vivaro boast an efficient engine, it’s great to drive and certainly gets our vote as the only van still made in Britain, although it’s worth bearing in mind that its payload capacity could be better.
Peugeot Partner
A super popular van, the Peugeot Partner sold well in 2017.
Peugeot Boxer
A great-value van, the Peugeot Boxer offers excellent payload volume, although safety lags slightly behind other van models, and it’s worth researching locks for vans, such as those from http://www.vehicle-accessories.net/Security/Van-Locks/Deadlocks-Van-Locks.
Citroen Berlingo
The good value and practicality of the Citroen Berlingo have kept sales consistent over the last 12 months.
Ford Ranger
Coming in at number ten is the Ford Range. This pickup – the only one to make the top ten best-sellers list in 2017 – is not only excellent value but also offers great versatility.
During 2018, we look set to see some fabulous updates in the commercial vehicle world as tried and tested technology is improved for an all-round excellent driving experience.
