The Audi AG is the German automobile company making luxury cars for the international markets. Many of their cars have come to the Indian shores. The Audi India has showcased the hatchback A3 during the 2014 India auto show. Getting a good response from the customers the company has launched the A3 in September 2014. The much awaited costlier variant the A3 Cabriolet has been launched in November 2014.
Variants and Prices
The Audi A3 Hatchback comes in 3 petrol and 4 diesel variants all with automatic transmission. The petrol variants are the A3 40 Premium, the A3 40 Premium Plus and the A3 40 Cabriolet priced Rupees 25.50, 30.27 and 44.75 lakh respectively. The diesel variants are the A3 35 Attraction, the Premium, the Premium Plus and the Technology priced Rupees 24.56, 27.42, 31.09 and 32.93 lakh respectively.
Exteriors
The sedan A3 has a sporty body which is comparable with the exteriors of any other luxury hatchback. The attractive front has a single frame radiator grille, large air intakes, flat head lights and character lines on the hood from the wind shield to the Grille. Large wheel arches, gently sloping C pillars, roof sloping towards a small rear spoiler, a sun roof, tail gate with a 3D look and body coloured door handles and ORVMs give the car a real luxury look. The Cabriolet variant has a fabric roof which can be fully closed or opened in 18 sec at a running speed of 50 kmph.
Interiors
Even the base variant of the A3 is loaded with lots of features like 6 air bags, ABS, EBD, BA, ESP, Hill Hold control, Traction control, leather seats, rear parking sensors, body coloured electric ORVMs with turn indicators and a 2 Din music system with LCD display and Bluetooth for audio controls and telephony. The Technology variant has reverse parking cameras and GPS additionally. The Cabriolet variant has Active Roll-over protection.
Powerful Engines
The petrol variants of A3 powered by 1.8L engines give mileages of 16.60 (15 for Cabriolet) kmpl. The diesel ones with 2.0Lengines give mileages of 20.38 kmpl. The petrol variants take 7.3 sec and the diesel variants 8.6 sec for 0 to 100 kmph acceleration.
