Home security is one of the most important parts of your life. In particular, your front door is the gateway to your home and the first line of defense against intruders. There are many ways to see who is at your front door, and these can help you keep your home secure.
Motion sensors
While motion sensors might not tell you exactly who is at your front door, it is a cheap and reliable method of detection. When someone or something moves across your door, the sensor will go off and you will be notified. This will give you ample time to prepare yourself and peep through a window for more information.
Spy cameras
Spy cameras are traditional ways to see who is at your front door. These cameras are hooked up to an external monitor that relays the information to you. If you frequently sit at a desk or in an office space, this is one of the most efficient ways to check your front door. The live feed will constantly update you of the status quo, and if it is someone you are expecting, you can immediately head over to the door.
Door sensors
Door sensors are hooked up to your door to detect movement. These devices are best used in conjunction with others. Combine ADT motion sensors with door sensors to create the most secure security system. With this double line of defense, it is nearly impossible for somebody to enter your home undetected. They will either trip the motion sensor or door sensor. Most likely, both will trigger and both systems will be notified.
Peepholes
While it might seem primitive, many doors today are not equipped with peepholes. By carving them out yourself, you can easily see who is at your front door. From the outside, it is impossible to tell whether someone is looking in. You will be able to spy on them from privacy.
Sensor mats
The mat at your front door can contain a sensor itself. When guests walk on top of it, a signal will be sent to the interior of your home. Much like the other devices, you can respond appropriately.
Checking who is at your front door is extremely important. With these various technologies, you can do so from the safety of your home. If it is somebody who is unexpected, you can tell them to go away or call the cops.
