How to create a safe play area in your garden with play bark chippings
Having a play area in your garden is a brilliant idea when you have little children, especially during the summer holidays! Little children need fresh air and sunshine, creating a play area for them to enjoy gives them both of them things all day long.
Despite it being a good idea to have a play area, it doesn’t create itself! This guide is to help you create your play area to please your children today. All you’ll need is play bark chippings and equipment of your choice.
Making sure it’s safe
It’s important that before you start constructing your play area that you consider a couple of things. For starters, you need to make sure that you pick the best area to place it in. Since young children are concerned, it’s probably best to place the play area so that you can easily see it from the windows of your house. You do this because it means that whilst you are doing jobs in the house, you can still keep an eye on them. This is very important.
Next, you need to consider whether the ground is flat where you plan to construct the play area. If the ground is not flat then it may not be the best of ideas to construct a play area there. This is because uneven ground may increase the chance of your child injuring themselves.
You’ll also want to make sure that your garden is secure. As a parent, you probably know that all children love to explore. This means that if your garden is not secure, you may end up with disappearing children. They also probably have no sense of danger which is going to be an unsafe situation if they somehow escaped from the garden. Whilst making sure they cannot get out of the garden via broken fences amongst other things, it is also important to make sure that there’s nothing in your garden which may cause them harm. In the same way that you wouldn’t want to escape your garden and run into danger, you do not want your children to be in danger in your garden either. This means that you should make sure there’s no harmful liquids, glass or gardening tools lying around.
To create the Play Area
Hopefully at this point you will have expelled any dangers from your garden and picked the perfect plot of land to construct your play area. For a play area, you’ll need equipment. Depending on your budget, it is often best to buy the best swings, slides and trampolines that you can afford. You’ll have heard before that you get what you pay for. This means if you buy expensive, you’re going to get quality. It also means that if you buy the cheapest, it is going to be cheaply made.
You’ll also require play bark chippings as previously mentioned. All you have to do is lay out the play bark chippings evenly and flat to ensure the best possible safety for your child. The reason you need play bark chippings is so that if your child does fall, their landing will be much safer than falling to unprotected ground.
You next simply have to install the equipment you have chosen on top of the play bark chippings. Some equipment will have to be installed before you put the chippings down as it requires that you put some equipment into the ground to keep it standing film. It is recommendable to follow the instructions included in the packaging with whatever you buy instead of us trying to instruct you!
That’s our guide to create the perfect (and safe) play area using play bark. We hope that we’ve been able to help you!
