Karnataka Common Entrance Test or KCET is a state level examination organized by KEA or Karnataka Examination Authority to provide admission to the candidates in various full time courses of engineering, medical, dental, architecture etc.
List of courses offered through the entrance exam are:
- BAMS
- BUMS
- BHYS & BHMS
- E./B. Tech
- Arch
- BSc (with specialization in agriculture, forestry, sericulture, agri. Biotech, horticulture, Home science, Agriculture marketing and Co-operation)
- Tech with Food science and Technology
- Tech with Agriculture Engineering
- V. Sc. & A.H.B. Pharma
- 2nd Year B.Pharma (Lateral Entry) and D.Pharma
These courses are offered by Government as well as private educational institutions of the state. In this test, students from only Karnataka state are eligible and other students can go for COMEDK which is conducted for admissions in private Engineering, Dental and Medical College
Important Dates
- Online application forms will initiate in 2nd week of January, 2017
- Last date to submit the form falls in 1st week of March, 2017
- Last date for payment of fee will be in last week of February, 2017
- Admit cards will be available in 3rd week of April, 2017
- Date of Exam for Biology and Mathematics is 2nd May, 2017
- Date of Exam for Physics and Chemistry is 3rd May, 2017
- Kannada Language Test in Bangalore is on 4th May, 2017
- Results will be declared in last week of May, 2017
Application form
Candidates can apply for entrance exam on the official website of authority i.e. through online mode only. The application forms will be made available online from 1st week of January 2017. Candidates will have to fill all information as required in application form along with scanned images of photograph, signature and left thumb impression.
Applicants also have to make payment of Rs. 650 as application fee and for SC/ST its Rs. 500. Application fee can be paid through bank challan only. Applicants are suggested to keep the print out of their application form for future reference.
Eligibility Criteria
For Engineering Programs
- The candidates must have cleared 12thclass with Physics and Mathematics as mandatory subjects and English as language subject.
- The candidates must have scored 45% marks in Physics and Mathematics along with any one of these subjects which could be Chemistry/ Bio-Technology, Biology, Electronics, Computer and 40% marks for reserved categories.
- The Candidates appearing for qualifying KCET exam 2017 are also eligible to apply
For Pharmacy/Science programs
- The candidates must have cleared 12thclass with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects & English as language subjects.
- The candidates must have scored 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology group and 40% marks for reserved categories.
- The applicants appearing qualifying examination can also apply for the entrance exam.
For BAMS, BUMS, BNYS & BHMS
- Candidate must have passed 12th class with English.
- Candidate must have scored minimum 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects.
For B.V.Sc. & A.H
- Candidate must have passed 12th class with English.
- Candidate must score minimum 50% in Physics, Chemistry, Biology subjects.
